You can train the captured monsters to domesticate them. You may train once in every 30 minutes for as much as 100 SE for each level of your pet training skill. So the higher your pet training skill is, the quicker you are able to domesticate your monster.
With the book of beasts, you can half the time taken to train a pet (to make it 15 minutes)
